This week I was so excited to sew my first boy clothes!
I've had a blast sewing girl clothes, and I couldn't wait to start making little coordinating outfits for my two sweet kiddos.
I chose to make a reversible jon-jon out of some madras patchwork material and navy broadcloth.
I haven't added buttons yet, but here's the madras side:
I added the letter applique at the last minute. This is one of the first appliques I've ever done. It looks kind of terrible up close, but not so bad far away :o)Here's what will be a matching jumper for Gracie-girl:
To make both I used this pattern book:
Super, super-easy for a beginner like myself. The pictures date back to the early 90's (haha), but the styles are classics.

very cute Kel! I'm super excited about our sewing day, so let's find a date so I can count down the days!!
beginner - are you kidding me? you're SO awesome
Great job, Kelli! I can't wait to see a picture of them sporting their precious mommy-made outfits! I meant to email you about your question a couple weeks ago-sorry! I didn't make the John John you asked about, but I have made a pattern almost exaclty like that-it's the Johnny from Children's Corner. Here's one of them-http://thomasfamilydays.blogspot.com/2009/11/after-party.html. Enjoy!!
