I Heart Fall!

OK, I know I did this backwards again. Oops! Check out the cute skirt I made today and then read on.

If you know me well (and I assume that most people who read this do...), you know that I LOVE fall! So many exciting things happen during this season: my family's birthdays (Me-October 11, Gracie-November 1, Chad-November 27, and Baby #2-late October/early November, oh, and my brother, Nathan-November 7), football season, Halloween, Thanksgiving, the fair comes to town, etc. I am so excited to live in a house with "real trees," so that we can watch their leaves turn colors and jump in the piles!

My favorite fall holiday is Halloween. I have loved Halloween every since I was a little kid. Now, I'm not talking that I love it in a pagan-worship, witchcraft kind of way. I simply love the idea of getting dressed up, lots of candy, and all of the fun that goes with those things! (The two weeks leading up to Halloween is my favorite time in the school year...I must be insane.) Now that I have a little girl to dress, I have completely fallen in love with Halloween-themed clothes. If you look back at my posts from last fall, you can see some of Gracie's cute outfits from last year. Since I am not working right now, we don't have tons of money to feed my boutique-clothing fetish, so I am super-excited to be learning to sew!

I was lurking on other people's blogs (aka blogstalking) when I came across one by a high school friend. I love crafty blogs, and this one is great! Mary Catherine has a little girl who is Gracie's age and another little girl who is 2 or 3 months old. She loves to sew and craft and makes the cutest baby dolls called Rosie Posies. Anyway, while checking out her blog, I found a link for a Lazy Day Skirt tutorial which I used to make the cute Halloween skirt at the top of this post. It was SO easy! It literally took a quarter yard of scrap fabric, elastic, and 1 1/2 yards of ribbon. It also only took about an hour to make which is big for this beginner! Thank you Mary Catherine for posting this great link!
