Pregnancy Post

So, I don't normally post about being pregnant, but Chad told me I'm no longer allowed to whine to him so I decided to whine to you instead! Ha! I love a captive audience!

Today I had a great 28 (27 1/2) week visit to the doctor. I heard a healthy hearbeat in the 140's (does that mean it's a boy?), and I am measuring right on schedule. Everything looks great!

I am really loving the doctors we have chosen here in Greenville (Piedmont OBGYN). Everyone we have come into contact with there has been so wonderful, and I actually look forward to going every two weeks. The downside is that they are all the way at Greenville Memorial which is about 40 minutes away. On the flip side, everything is about 20-40 minutes away from us, so it's really not a big deal.

Despite the good visit, this week has been a difficult one for me. I am having the most horrendous hearburn one could ever imagine. I was actually awake for about 3 hours in the middle of Tuesday night because of it. I can't eat or do anything without feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack and getting short of breath. For someone who tends to move around with relative ease, this has been a burden. I did start taking Prevacid after the doctor OK'd it, and I'm feeling much better!

My second complaint is my rapid weight gain (this is the one Chad said he will no longer listen to). I thought I was doing really well this go round considering how much I gained with Gracie (which we won't discuss). Due to stress (which I guess is nothing to brag about), I only gained about 6 pounds in the first half of my pregnancy. That's where the gravy train ends. I will not say how much I have now gained, but it is a LOT. I guess once my body came out of super stress mode, it gave in to the weight-gain demons. Now, I am proud to say that I lost every bit of baby weight with Gracie (and then some) within about a year of giving birth. I plan on doing the same this time, but stepping on the scale now is still a shock! I know that my body is gaining the weight because it needs it to grow a healthy baby. Blah, blah blah! That does not help me feel any better. OK-Complaint over! Thank you for listening!

Now, I must go do laundry so that I am prepared to pack for a trip to Cleveland this weekend. Gracie's first time on an airplane is coming way before mine ever did (college)! Say a prayer and wish us luck!

Awwww, I can't believe our long (whining) conversations have been replaced by blogging!!!! I will say as many prayers as I can for you, because I TOTALLY know what you're going through! The "pregnancy depression" has been coming and going for me, but it will soon be over, so I'm trying to focus on that. Have fun in Cleveland...that's the upside to not working...being able to up and go whenever you want! Now if you would just head down to our neck of the woods sometime soon! :) We love you and can't wait for Baby Staggs to finally be here!!

Hi, Kelli! So glad to have found your blog, and good to read how the pregnancy is going! We go to piedmont obgyn, too, and really love it! I had my 28 week appt. today with Dr. Beck (love her). Everything's going well...I'm ready for her to be here now! :)
